I received a file with ack.test_file from a client and a key. How can I open it?

If it is a trusted source, might be either a .zip/.exe/.MSI file, and ack is the filename. Probably an installer of some sort....

DO NOT ATEMPT TO RENAME AND LAUNCH IT UNLESSS IT IS FROM SOMEONE YOU TRUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is from my client, IT dept, It is a Bank. How can I open it? They also a key in a seperate mail.

You can save it, and rename it to one of the extensions above. Reason I suggest those, is that a key is usually needed for installations of programs, which come in one of those three file types above.....

I did renamed them to a .zip/.exe/.MSI and that did not help.
