site map datasource not displaying for asp:menu control in vs2010

I'm trying to insert an asp:menu control on my master page in visual studio 2010 and I'm using a web.sitemap file as my datasource.  However, when I try to select a new datasource on the menu drop down list nothing appears for me to choose.  Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

The following print screen is what I'm referring too.  The data source type should show site map and/or xml file but instead nothing displays.  Also I'm attaching my code for my sitemap

Actually you need to drop SiteMapDataSource on the page from ToolBox->under DataTab.
Then you will be able to see all DataSources on that page.
