HTC Desire - want link to file or folder on home page

Using HTC Desire, Android 2.2
I am syncing a folder on my PC to the HTC.
Since it is not possible to direct where this folder is stored on the HTC I would like to create a link (or shortcut) to the folder and place it on the "home-screen" (i.e one of the 7 different screens).
I have tried to create it via the + sign. I then can see the regular Widget,App, Shortcut and Folder, but none of them gives me the possibility to create a link to a folder (or file).
I am using the OI File manager, but it gives me only the possibility to traverse down the tree to the folder, which is (in my case)
mnt\my documents\documents\c\users\tnt\documents\mobil\briefcase\

Please advice

I do not know of an application or widget that can do what you are asking.  You are on the right track with a file manager as Android does not have file browsing capability built into it be default.

I assume they are documents you want to view with something like Open Office?  If they are maybe you could change your synchronisation path so that they are in more accessible folder like [/sdcard]/breifcase and then just use your file manager?

Your asumptions are correct.
I have typically a set of word-documents and spreadsheets which I want easy access to.
Unfortunately there is no way to instruct HTC Sync v.3.x to put  the files in a specific folder on the sdcard.

Any ideas are welcome.

OK.  I have just done a quick bit of research.  If you use the same documents all the time you can create short cuts to them and put them on a home screen (or create a 'folder' on a home screen and drop the shortcuts into there).  I do not know which file manager you use, but I can do this in the one I use called Estrongs File Manager.  You just hold the file for a long time and it will give you some choices.  Choose create short cut, when you get back to your home screens there should be a short cut there.

Like I said you might want to create a 'folder' on your home screen and drop these short cuts in there.

Does that work?

Thanks. The new file manager worked much better than OI FileManager. Much more options.
Thanks a lot.
