Increasingly Narrowing Data Validation

Hi, I want to have data validation whereby a user selects from three narrowing values but cannot select an invalid combination of values.  In a sheet I would like to ideally have the user select the DEPT, then select a valid "BRU" data set for that DEPT (it only display valid values for that DEPT), then when they select the "BRU", they only be able to select valid "COMPS" values that are valid for that particular "BRU".

For example, on the "validation" worksheet attached, I want the user to be able to select "Administration" for the "DEPT" field, but then only see an unduplicated list of valid values for "Administration" (which would be an unduplicated list of values in D2:D45 from the first tab in this example).  Similarly, if they select "Centralized Admin Services" for the BRU, then the "Comp" selections available should only display an unduplicated list of values from F2:F18 to select from.

I'm not sure if validation is powerful enough to do this or if it can only be done with a script.  I would like to be able to make updates to the list occasionally as categories are modified.

Thanks for your help.   ABS-Budget-Structure.xlsx

Are you open to do this what you are looking by macros or you want to do it with the help of formulas only?

Hi, this is pretty close but the COMP_SHORT drop down is actually displaying values for BRU rather than valid values from Column F on the first tab. Is that something you could correct?

Thanks!
