Hi

We are struggling with our bandwidth, and want to see which sites are generating the most bandwidth (i.e. youtube) and/or which users/IP addresses are using the highest bandwidth

is there a plugin that can do this, or can it do it out of the box

currently we just see the overall bandwidth maxing out
thanks

I haven't used it personally, however I know someone who used it for per user monitoring using ipcop, so it certainly seems to do what you want from your description. Personally I use Smoothwall, which provides this, and pretty much everything else that you might need or want.

IPBill

IPBill is an addon for the linux-based firewall IPCop. IPBill  provides servics to block/allow access to the internet for configurable  hosts. The administration front-end shows time and prices for all  active internet-connections. The addon is especially useful for internet  shops or other public internet access points.

Traffic Control And Report addon for IPCop project

Addon controls user access to ipcop box by ip and mac addresses through        GREEN and BLUE interfaces. If user's ip and mac are not in user list then this user       will be blocked - he will not be able to receive packets from ipcop box.

Thanks but neither of these suggestions are suitable for my needs

I simply want information of which are the offending users so I can slap their wrists
I also need to know what sites/services they are accessing so I can block them if they aren't work related

Thanks

Its not the websites i'm interested in (well kinda)
Its more the websites or services that use the most bandwidth

If i can identify the top offenders hopefully i can ban these sites in dan's guardian

Cheers
