How do I get my Droid 2 to sync my corporate email almost instantly?

I'm at a business/technical school where we recently received a Droid 2 phone from Verizon Wireless. The school's admissions department uses them if they receive any leads for possible student enrollments. The major issue that they are having is that they get their corporate email instantly on their computer, but not right away to the phone. In other words, we have to sometimes hit refresh to make sure that the phone gets current email. Admissions needs to respond within 5 minutes after getting a lead and they won't know of therm unless they hit refresh.

I have the phone set to push email instantly with the data push option, but the emails still don't come through almost immediately. I know there are apps that could help with this, but they are only good for 30 days or so. We need a free solution. What else could be done so that they could get their corporate exchange email just as fast on their phone as they do their computer?
