We have older win 2003 box with SQL 2000 installed
it has outlook 2000 mapi profile configure and I can see this profile when I check the property of SQL Mail. When I click on "TEST" button it will return "successfully started and stopped mapi session with this profile”. However when SQL runs scheduled jobs to send email notifications we are not getting any.
How do I send test email to confirm that SQL mail setup is working.

I also have an error message when try to stat SQL EM on the server itself (seet attached screenshot)

Hi,

So the SQL Agent can start and stop mapi.

Next steps is to create SQL Agent Operators, and test that you can email them.

Then on a job set notifications to email an operator(s).

Your problem with Enterprise Manager - check out the backward compatibility pack for SQL 2005. I suggest testing that to see if that makes a difference and solves the issue in the screen-shot.

I got something similar myself just now trying to look at the agent for the email part of your question - I have SQL 2008 on that box as well, and I'm guessing without the backwards compatibility.

Hi,

From Enterprise Manager, right click on Operators and select New Operator.

See the screen shot.

PS Likely you can do this from SSMS, but I haven't tried for SQL 2000.
