Black line in word

im having an issue thats not really an issue but its driving this guy nuts.   some how he got a black line to show up under what he is typing. its not underline and i cant seem to figure out how to remove it.

i attached a screen shot , let me know what you think.

Just under the letter he is typing or all letters?

Press the Insert key once and see if it goes away.
