Cannot insert an embedded object into Calendar Appt in Outlook 2010

Using Outlook 2010 - When in Calendar Appointment I want to insert a Word/Excel document as an object.  I'm in the body of the appointment, I choose Insert, Text, Object - Create from File.  The "link to file" checkbox is grayed out so it will not be inserted as an Embedded Object (so any changes made to the source document will be reflected to the inserted object).  I did this all the time in Outlook 2003.

For what it's worth -- I was able to drag a Word doc to an appointment in Outlook 2010, and also insert one from the Insert item.  (One was a .doc file, the other .docx).  This is in standalone Outlook.  Do you have Exchange Server?

There might also be security issues.  What is your macro security setting for Outlook?
