Slow scrolling in OpenOffice on Mac

I am experiencing painfully slow scrolling in OpenOffice 3.2.1, OS X 10.6.4, Macbook Pro
I see I am not the only one:

I would suggest trying NeoOffice, it was the original port of OpenOffice from X11 to Aqua and has been very well maintained.
