Should I install Dell Desktop System Software (DSS)?

I am starting the process of a fresh Windows XP install on a Dell Optiplex GX620. I will be sysprepping & creating a new image for our 50+ GX620's at our office. I am not sure if I should install the Dell DSS software. I know it was not installed when we made our original image, and the systems have been running fine. However, Dell says that DSS is a requirement and that it should be installed before any other drivers. I did a Google search for Dell DSS and some say it is necessary, while others say it is bloatware. It is unclear to me whether DSS installs Windows Hotfixes, Drivers, makes system optimizations, or all of the above. If it is a utility that will periodically check for and prompt users to install updates, then I don't want it because my users are not admins on their machines. Does anybody know what this software does exactly and whether or not organizations are installing it on their desktops?

If you are keeping your Windows updates active then DSS will not be necessary.  DSS installs the Windows updates that Dell feels are critical but does not add anything that you cannot get from Windows.  It also updates itself frequently which will prompt users for the update installations.
