Dell Blue Screen Physical Dump

My Dell PC has crashed on Startup - The error message - on Blue Screen - has the following text:

"STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SytemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE
or itls log or alternate.
It is corrupt, ansent, or not writable.

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical dmp complete.
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance."


I am not a technical person and am concerned about the data stored in memory....
Please help.

Before you do anything else, >> make a full backup of the disk drive <<.  You will get lots of good advice here, with many things to try, but if anything goes wrong, it is important to be able to return the drive to the state it is in now, without further changes or damage.

After making the backup, my first attempt would be to try a standalone restore to the most recent bootable restore point.  This can be done using the Microsoft DaRT toolkit.  Instructions for doing a standalone restore can be found here:
