virus removal

I have used McAfee antivirus to attempt to remove Ramnit.a which is infecting my system. It claims to have cleaned the files each of several attempts but the virus replicates infinitely. How to kill it?!

Sorry to give you bad news, but Ramnit is a file-infector, in the same class as Virut and Sality.  The last pc Ramnit infection I had, eset online virus scanner found and removed 6,000 infected files. I then rebooted, ran Mbam,, which found nothing, then ran eset again and found another 4,000 plus!!!

There is no way back with a file infector.  You should save format and re-install.  And be very careful about backing up data - it is easy to become re-infected.
