Urgent - SBS 2003 hangs

I just reinstall SBS 2003 because the hard drives failed.

Everything worked fine until I plugged in a USB disk to transfer files from the backup to the new install. I unplugged it at point point and the server shutdown (cold). Now when I restart it comes up but when I log in it freezes. The files resources are still available and exchange is still working but I can't do anything on the console. Ctrl+Alt+Del does not work either. I don't see anything in the event logs when I log in to safe mode (which works)

Any ideas?

It seems that your computer may be infeted by your USB drive.
Download the kaspersky virus removal tool 2010, burn it to a CD, and use it on your server, running safe mode, or download it using safe mode with network

Sounds like screen resolution issues to me.  Can you create a new account in safe mode, then login into the running system using that?
