ASA and ASDM version upgrade

hi,

I have purchased and downloaded latest asdm (asdm-634-53) and  asa software (asa823-k8).

can i upgraded straight to the latest version ?

My current versions:
ASA 7.0(8)
ASDM 5.0(8)

Do i have to upgrade ASA first and then ASDM?

how do i create backup in-case something goes wrong during upgrade

Yes

No- but I would do it that way round :)

Im getting the following error. i have downloaded .bin file from My Cisco portal.

any idea ?
