Hi

i am studying for the vcp exam and i need help with a topic in the book regarding backups to an esxi host, the book states that if a configuration is backed up after the recovery cd (esxi embedded) or the repair operation (esxi installable) is used, the serial number is not preserved, what serial number are they referring to here and how would this cause issues down the line, licensing issuesmaybe?????

Thanks.

The Serial Number is indeed the "lisense key" You can see an example where they say register for a free serial number. http://communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/vi/esxi3.5. (example only). I think the reason they say serial is because we didnt pay for it. That is fine with me. LOL.

Cheers

PS. I did find this as well. It verifies "others" are also confused~! LOL. l wonder what % will just go buy it~! :-)
