I am evaluating Sage functionality - specifically budgets.
I have put a budget against Nominal Account 1001 for every month in the year 2010/11. There are some sample actual figures against this account as well.
My budgets are NOT showing on any budget reports, balance sheets etc See attached..
WHY?
I must have some higher level setting incorrect?? BUDGET.zip

You need to set the software to use your chosen budgetary method.
1. From the Settings menu, click Company Preferences.
2. Click the Budgeting tab.
3. Choose the budgeting method you want from the drop-down lists.
4. If you have created a Chart of Accounts just for budgeting, choose it from the drop-down list.
5. Click OK.

(Note: some reports are for Standard and some for Advanced method of budgeting.)
If you have problems please state which report you ran.
I assume you are running the latest version, V2011 for your evaluation.

Thanks brucedenney,
I am making progress.
I am using advanced budgeting with a separate budget for each NOMINAL Code and department combination.
So I have set my budgeting method to "Advanced" and "Department in Dept".
I have also entered some dummy budgets for department/nominal codes.
However, what report(s) should I run to view these budgets?
Perhaps you could point me in the direction of a report that would show these figures.
Ideally, I am looking for a balance sheet with YTD and MTD budgets etc.
I have found a report where you indicated. Figures are right.
Rather disappointingly there is only one report there (perhaps it is my version of line 50 (14.12.0.153).
Before I close this query perhaps you might comment on the following;
1. Is it possible to find other advanced budget reports?
2. I am from a technical background. How easy is it to amend/create these reports. Any online demos of report development.
1. From the Settings menu, click Company Preferences.
2. Click the Budgeting tab.
3. Choose the budgeting method you want from the drop-down lists.
4. If you have created a Chart of Accounts just for budgeting, choose it from the drop-down list.
5. Click OK.
