FM - Recommendations for FM SW that does Commercial Real Estate GL, AP, and AR/Property Mgmt
For all banging away at giving free answers, here is one with potential $ (though I'll give credit on the question to anyone who provides credible suggestions):
I've been tasked with researching the possibility of replacing our DOS program that does GL, AP, and AR/Property management for commercial real estate. A non-Filemaker equivalent would by Yardi or IBS. It's complicated because billing would have to stream down from Building to Tenants, each Tenant has a different base, %, terms, start year, etc. Do you know anyone with experience at this and even better who has pre-written package? They would do the sell and installation and I would do the upkeep. Thank you.
My past life was as an owner operator of a Coldwell Banker Franchisee where I developed an extensive database that ran the back end of the business.
I do not have a pre-made database for the rental situation that rvfowler is seeking.
My 1st thought was a QuickBooks for the GL/AR/AP
If you decide to go the develop from scratch route and are looking for a consultant that understands the business, please feel free to contact me.
Is there anything else other than QuickBooks. My sources are recommending that, but my boss says it is not robust enough. Even if we use FM for the Prop Mgmt part of this, Quickbooks is not enough for the GL/AR/AP.
I am guessing he maybe be confusing Quicken with Quickbooks....
Quicken is simple program but Quickbooks is fairly robust, it can handle what I would envisions you need to know if a rent is due or paid as well as properly account for all income and expenses....
Microsoft makes a more expensive and complicated program Great Plains
ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.
One of a set of tools we're offering as a way to say thank you for being a part of the community.
I used Peachtree years ago and hated it so much I move to Quickbooks to run my business
I found it much easier to use and everbit as powerful (it also can due payrole and all state forms associated with that)
Some Accountants grew up on Peach tree and that is all they like and some Accts love Quickbooks
