I have a windows XP workstation, service pack 3, for which the security center tells me a firewall is active. However windows firewall service is disabled. There is no sign of mcafee, norton, keerio, etc... etc... installed on this machine. I simply do not recognize any other firewall.
The only item that I am unfamiliar with that I can even phathom having a firewall is the VZ Access software from verizon. (this seems unlikely, but it's the only other utility that I can see that directly impacts the network).
Anyhow, is there a way to tell what Windows 'thinks' is the firewall I have installed? In security center if you expand the firewall section, it simply says "At least one of the firewalls installed on this computer is currently ON".
I'm certain it is not referring to the windows firewall for the windows firewall control panel shows it as off. If I enable windows firewall, then the security center gives me a little note warning me about running 2 firewalls.
HTH,
Ken
