How to add document library relevant docs web part

I have a document library as a subsite of my main webpage. The home page of the document library has a webpart that shows the relevant or recent documents that the particular user has opened recently. How do I get a relevant documents web part on my home page of my main site that is linked to the document library of the document library site?

I don't think it's possible with the Out of the Box SharePoint.  You can test it with the page viewer, but might not be what you wanted.

However, check out Laura Roger's solution with using SharePoint Designer:
