Have you tried turning off session encryption in local policies?  Windows 7 may be refusing the connection due to increased default permissions levels and your NAS not supporting the enforced encryption levels.

To change this, go to the policy editor.
Click on Start then in the search bar type GPEDIT.MSC and hit ENTER.
Go to Computer Configuration->Windows Settings->Security Settings->Local Policies->Security Options and double click on Network Security:LAN Manager authentication level.

Try either the first option, SEND LM & NTLM RESPONSES or the 3rd option SEND NTLM RESPONSES ONLY.  By default, Windows 7 is set to NTLMv2.

You may also need to change the options a few settings down for Minimum Session Security...  Change both to NONE.

Please note:  Both of this settings will make your computer slightly less secure in their network communications. Policy Editor

OK - you will have to manually edit the registry.  As soon as I can find the correct keys, I will repost the answer.

I got it figured out, changed window 7 network setting, especially turned OFF password protected sharing.
Then Map the drive \\storage\public

thank you
