We currently have an EMC AX100i SAN. The unit is haveing problems with the cache memory card. We have found the part # 005048407, but EMC no longer has these parts. We have been trying to find a replacement or reseller to no avail.
Anyone know where this part can be purchased from?

Yes, we have google as well. ;-)
We have already checked with those companies and used the searchlighttech service, but either no one has it in stock, or they want more for the card then we could buy an entire unit for.

This device is not mission critical, we are thinking of using it mainly for development.
Could we use it without the cache memory card installed? if so, what effect would it have?
What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Yes - but it means you'll have no write cache and it will be sl-o-o-o-w(ish). Well, slow compared to if it had the cache board anyway. It'll still be pretty quick (depending on what drives are fitted), but not as quick as it could be.
