I just acquired a VoiceTime USB Sync device to improve timing and fix choppy issues with my conference center.  I'm on Elastix 1.3-2 Asterisk 2.6.0.0, zaptel-1.4.12.1 with no analog hardware.

Following the install wiki - http://wiki.sangoma.com/sangoma-wanpipe-voicetime#install I installed the wanpip voicetime driver  ver 1.0.9.  Since I already had zaptel on the system I bypassed that portion of the instructions.  I've rebooted the server, and everything I check in the debugging sections is in the affirmative, except the zttest.

My latest test:

zttest -
8192 zaptel samples in 18813.473 system clock sample intervals (229.657%)
8192 zaptel samples in 15768.512 system clock sample intervals (192.487%)

and it is still choppy, as if the usb isn't there.

lsusb shows the USB on a port:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 10c4:8460 Cygnal Integrated Products, Inc.

dmesg |grep USB turns up:

Fixed it!

Timing issue was with the IRQ, kept getting stepped on.  So I did two things -
1. turned off everything extraneous in the bios - parallel, serial, audio, core stepping power management
2. experimented with the ACPI and PCI settings.  those caused a conflict, but adding irqpool to grub.conf on the kernel line fixed it!

2 great sources that helped me figure it out:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions

Wish I could have got ACPI to work so everything would have their own IRQ, but this solves it so I'm happy.
