I have an NVidia GeForce GT240 graphics card with VGA and DVI inputs.

Does this mean I should be able to connect 2 LCD screens to the card and have an extended screen set-up?

When I go into Display Properties - settings in Windows XP, it only shows the one screen as active.  How do I get the second screen active so I can use an extended screen?

I have not connected a second screen permenantly as yet.  I tried it once but could not see the second screen settings in the above area of XP.

This link tells me my Geforce card is compatible, yet the Display Settings tell me there is only one monitor option

Connect both monitors, install the latest drivers from nvidia.com, open Nvidia Control Panel and navigate to Display > Srt up multiple displays
You should see both displays in the list

I ended up uninstalling the Nvidia Control Panel in order to get the extended desktop.  I was able to see the two monitors, but could only mirror, or stretch the desktop across 2 monitors.  I could not use the Nvidia Control Panel to set one monitor as extended desktop.

Bizzarre but it is working now.

Thanks Clonyxiro for your help
