.NET interact with Windows Media Player and VLC

Hi,
i am looking for code example for way to control Windows Media Player and VideoLan Player from my C# application.

I need to control stuff as the media library, volume, next, previous, pause, well all the basic functioality we would expect to see in a Media Player.

Note: I dont want to embed WMP in my application.
