I am trying to install curl on a Windows XP machine. I just want to be able to operate it from the command line.

Example. curl www.example.com

However, everytime I have tried this I get error code 7 couldn't connect to host.

I have tried multiple versions of curl and have not been able to get it to successfully work. Will someone please walk me through step by step the basic install for curl on windows to use it from the command line.

Thanks.

I realized it has to do with the fact I am trying to connect through a proxy. It uses an automatic configuration script.

How do I get curl to work with these proxy settings?

curl supports multiple ways  to deal with proxies.
see here http://curl.haxx.se/docs/manpage.html - search for proxy.

does your proxy require authentication? if yes - what type of authentication?
