Hi

I'm migrating a project to actionscript 3 how do I write to text field?

textfieldname.text = "whatever";

Thanks for the reply.

The Flash version I was using had a variable field which you could refer to, this has changed in CS5. I also noticed it doesn't refer to _root but refers to object(root).myText.text etc

yeah you can't use the variable field anymore. also how you refer to a textfield depends how you place it there in the first place.
if you're creating classes and adding the textfield dynamically or if you're just placing everything on the stage.
the object(root) is not technically good practice .. (IMO) more like a hack if you're just doing the odd small thing.
