Power Edge 2950 CPU upgrade

Where can I find clear information about the possible CPU upgrade in a Power Edge 2950; the current server has two Dual-Core X5160 LGA771, and, which according some documents and vendors could be replaced with two Quad-Core E5345 processors; which according another documents and vendors is not possible.....

Here is a commentary found on Dell's web site.  Apparently it depends on the specific model and revision level of the 2950 in question.
