Hi;

Is it possible to install my BES server on the Symantec BackupExec media server which has a MSDE database installed?

I do not want to setup another server for BES, therefore I am thinking to do it on the existing Backup Exec server which has a copy of MSDE installed already.  When I configure my BES and it is asking for the sql database, I typied the server name but it said that it cannot find the database server.

I do not want to install a copy of SQL server, just want to use the MSDE for both service.

BES should install its own instance of MSDE/SQL Server Express, and that won't conflict with the existing BackupExec database.

Isn't there an option to install the databse when you are doing the install?  If not, download and install SQl 2005 Express Sp3 and install it as a names instance of BES, and use that as your database.
