You need to load the driver for the PERC 4e/Di at the F6 prompt during Windows Setup from floppy:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&releaseid=R99970&SystemID=PWE_PNT_P3C_2850&servicetag=&os=WNET&osl=en&deviceid=6395&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=2&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=35&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=129538

Alternatively (to using floppy), you can use nLiteOS.com to integrate the driver into your installation media.

You can also use Dell's installation utility (Systems Build and Update Utility):
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&releaseid=R272467&SystemID=PWE_PNT_P3C_2850&servicetag=&os=WNET&osl=en&deviceid=24134&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=2&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=36&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=402405

- Make sure you uncheck Install OpenManage Server Administrator - this can be installed after Windows is installed.
- Will not work with most OL/VL media downloaded from Microsoft.
- Installation media MUST have Service Pack 2 on it.  If it doesn't, you can use nLite (referenced above) to integrate it.

You will boot to this utility first, then it will prompt you for the Windows CD.

Sorry to post again ... if you install directly from the Windows CD, you MUST also configure RAID BEFORE attempting to install.  You do this in CTRL-M, Configure, View/Add.

Boot to BIOS (F2), go to Integrated Devices, and make sure that Embedded RAID controller is set to RAID Enabled.  If it is, and you are not getting a CTRL-M prompt, then you should be getting some other error/message during POST.  If you never saw CTRL-M, you may not have the necessary hardware for the embedded RAID controller.

To configure RAID, there is no real incorrect way ... CTRL-M, Configure, View/Add.  If the drives are showing READY, hit Space Bar to select each drive to be part of the array (they will start blinking), then Enter once you have selected all drives to be a part of the array (they will then stop blinking), F10 to configure, Space Bar to select Span, F10 to configure, select desired RAID level (leaving all others as default), then Accept.  Save the configuration when prompted.  Then go to Initialize (on the Main menu), Space Bar to select Logical Drive 0, then F10 to initialize.

You must either get the LSI PERC (PowerEdge RAID Controller) prompt of CTRL-M or a message saying that there is some sort of bus error, firmware not found, type of message indicating its failure.  List exactly what it says on the screen after it lists your processors/speed up until your F1/F2.

If you aren't getting anything, try powering off the system and reseating the riser card - it is a long card along the rear left side of the chassis.  It has a blue release lever on top that goes all the way up to 90 degrees (although it will seem to "catch" at 45 degrees).
