Hello All,

I need to configure a cisco 1721 router console/auxillary port to PC connection,

I have the Rj-45 to DB-9 pin cable. Unfortunately, I do not have a 9-pin serial port on my laptop.

Please help me to overcome this hurdle.

Thank you in advance.

go to your local pc store, and purchase a usb to db9 media converter.  depending on your operating system you might have to fiddle with the driver...

after that go to your device mgr and ensure that the new com port for the serial connection is configured for com1 or com2.  main reason behind this is some emulation software only recognizes com1 and com2.

if you need assistance thereafter re post.  this will get you up and going to connect to the router
