BEFORE DOING ANY CHANGE - BACKUP YOUR SERVER

1. go Regedit

2. Locate and export the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EventSystem\{26c409cc-ae86-11d1-b616-00805fc79216}\Subscriptions

3. Now delete that key (Windows will recreate it)

4. Execute Services.msc

5. Restart each of the following services in that exact order:
- COM+ Event System
- COM+ System Application
- Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider
- Volume Shadow Copy
If one of the services is on stop mode, change the startup type to automatic and start the service

6. Now try relisting your VSS writer

7. If your vss write is now ok you can now stop else continue to step 8

8. Put the following in a batch file and execute it

    cd /d %windir%\system32
    net stop vss
    net stop swprv
    regsvr32 ole32.dll
    regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
    regsvr32 /i eventcls.dll
    regsvr32 vss_ps.dll
    vssvc /register
    regsvr32 /i swprv.dll
    regsvr32 es.dll
    regsvr32 stdprov.dll
    regsvr32 vssui.dll
    regsvr32 msxml.dll
    regsvr32 msxml3.dll
    regsvr32 msxml4.dll

9. go cmd mode then type vssadmin list writers. confirm that everything is now ok
