HP Designjet 800PS Slowest Plotter in the world!!

Please someone tell me the speed of this plotter can be fixed. I have been researching online and many people complain of how slow to print it is. I have tried printing over the network, USB and no matter what it takes close to an our for a 500 mb file to print. Yes I know 500 is large, but should not take that long. Most of the time the print times out and printer reports flushing print job because of an error.

How much memory did this plotter come with? Can you upgrade the plotter memory?

160 MB and its maxed out :(

That means significant network communication must occur as only part of each project can be stored in operable memory on the device.

It's the same as if you're running an older computer with only 160MB system memory. It just runs slow.

One other thing to check is what the printers network speed is. Some of the larger format and higher volume printers will have Gigabit network connections. If so, make sure the network handles Gigabit and the printer gets that gigabit link along with any systems that regularly print to it. If there has to be high levels of communications to get the jobs printed, at least make tusre those communications go as quickly as possible.
