Manage Hyper-V from W7 Ultimate

Hi,

Have Hyper-V runing on W2008 R2 Enterprise as part of my domain. My destop, W7 Ultimate 64 is not joined to domain.

I wonder if I can maager the Hyper-V (use the Hyper-V manager from my desktop.

It's a lot easier if you join your PC to the domain. Otherwise, you will need to provide credentials to manage Hyper-V, just as you do for accessing files, printers, or anything else.

Download and install the Windows 7 Remote Server Administration Tools. Follow the instructions on the page for installing the Hyper-V management tool. You can install Cluster Manager too, if you are doing Hyper-V clustering.

kevinhsieh:Thanks. That is exactly what I tried: downloading the x86 package, but it says tht the update is not applicable for my computer.

I guessed I should not use teh AMD64 being on an Intel64

Actually, I was too cautious ... I installed the AMD64 and now need just to play around with Hyper-V Manager from my PC. Thanks.

AMD was the first to develop a 64 bit processor for the x86 market, so you AMD64 became the processor architecture name.
