how to set up a trunk

Hi

 
Can anyone tell me how to set up a trunk from a cisco slm2008 to a cisco slm2024 both these switches have web gui.

Under "VLAN Management"/"Port Setting"

Go to the port that you want to be a trunk and in the "Acceptable Frame Type" column, select "Tagged".

Hi
Have done this on both swtches and still nothing but have just had the most annoying thought, i made my cables using cat5e cable and rj45 plugs my cable from my wireless router works ok as i have internet connection on my computor through my slm2008 switch. so if i wasnt careful when i made my plugs on the other cable i guess thiss could be the problem?

Since these switches support Auto-MDI, it doesn't matter if you use a straight through of crossover cable between the switches. So I would confirm that your cable is good before going any further.

Do the LED's on the port that the cable is connected to light up?

No the leds do not light up thats why I think it could be my connections I will try today and let you know.

Hi

Sucess!!! it was indeed my shoddy workmanship on the rj45 connectors. Now in order to pass my hdmi through both switches I will

1.Creat Vlans on switch 1
2.Assign relevent ports to Vlans on switch 1
3.Creat Vlans on switch 2 to match switch 1
4.Assign relevent ports to Vlans on switch 2

This should let me pass through my hdmi through both switches ?

What do you think?
