So we have been looking at  Gladinet Cloud Desktop , as a way to map drives to give users access to files in the cloud and share them just as they would in our local enviroment.   I have a few questions.

1.  Does google docs, let you store any kind of file, for instance could users drop excel files, word docs, Quickbooks data and then open via  a mapped drive with this cloud desktop app?

2. Permissions-  how can I lock down permissions on this or make a main share for 15 differrent users, would google docs be the way to go ?

I am not familiar with Gladinet.
Google Docs allows you to store files that are in any format.

There are API interfaces that would allow you to program your own customization or there are 3rd party products.
Quick search found this, I have not used it.  https://www.google.com/enterprise/marketplace/viewListing?productListingId=1927+12624351498939350646&pli=1
