Flash CS5 - Font Problems when embedding

This might be a simple issue, when I embed PDF, SWF, Illustrator, or other vector based images to the timeline in Flash, I get odd, and random errors which pop up in the text of the embedded files. It always happens in text. I get random letters/characters which change into symbols.

For example, in an embedded .swf file which is perfect on its own, once I embed it to the timeline in Flash a few of the letters turn into '!' or '?' marks. It always happens to the same few characters in the same document(s), but no consistent across all files.

Anyone ever see this, what might cause it?

how are you doing the embedding? describe the process.
I've never tried embedding vector based illustrator type images into the timeline so want to see if i can replicate it.

I have tried it by converting the PDF into SWF then tried to import those to the stage, I also converted them into Illustrator files, with the same result. I even changed the font, and the same result occurred.

Maybe I just am baffled at how to import a PDF file to the stage for use in the timeline. :)
ok i still dont' understand what you're trying to do.

converted the pdf into swf? how?

click on the request attention link, maybe someone else will get what it is you're doing.
Thanks, I'll see what happens. :)

When you work in vector files, they embed the fonts to the file (per-day).
Make sure you go into the program you use to create the files & turn the text into objects or outlines. It can not stay as text. If it needs to be text for manipulation purposed in flash, then you have to remove the text until after the in flash. Then use flashes' text tool to recreate.

Also, maybe I'm not understanding your vernacular perfectly. You can't embed to the timeline, but to any stage on a specific frame on the timeline .. Is that what you're doing?

Use cntrl+R or cntrl+I (depending on the version of Flash, I've been using since early in the macromedia days ...) to import to the stage, which will also store in the library.

What is the original file format of the image you want to import. Was it an image? I read it went from PDF to SWF then to import ?? Overkill. PNG files are GREAT in flash. Before you go trying to convert to PNG, let us know what the original file type was.
Another note, are you seeing the problems with the font AFTER you publish, or when you test it in Flash?

*Just noticed the CS5 above, use the shortcut (on mac)command+R & (win)cntrl+R
