Hi,

We are running a Workgroup network with a third party DNS Server. We have been testing SharePint and have been seeing some long delays when trying to open Word documents on a Client machine. Other documents are fine, pdfs etc but it can take upto a minute to work with Word.

I have a Win2003 test domain and setup the same test and it completes in 2-3 seconds. Ive run wireshark on the first network and have noticed a DNS request for SRV_LDAP._TCP.
I know this is an Active Directory Service Record but do not know why its being called on a Workgroup Server which doesnt have AD installed.

I assume its a feature of Word 2010 that makes the call, im not sure if its causing the delays but id like to stop Word trying to find a DC if possible, just to rule it out.

Does anyone know how i can achieve this? Is there some configuration to Sharepoint or Word 2010 which will make Word stop making these DNS calls?

Thanks
