How might I stop BACKSCATTER using Qmail?

Hi.

I noticed that my IP was blacklisted on some mail services because it is used for backscattering... my mail server uses qmail, how can i configure it correctly to stop this situation?

You can make sure to disable NDR and use good rbl list filtering. You can also try registering an spf record in dns for you domain. Lastly, monitor your network traffic to ensure the traffic is coming from your mailserver and not somewhere else on your network.

from what I remember if you disable NDR(non delivery reports) the messages wont be delivered to the people that didn't send the message.     My next suggestion is to use good filtering software that uses one or more RBL lists to block messages from malicious servers.   An spf record will allow you to announce to other servers that valid messages from your domain only come from a specific ip address whic is your email server.  Lastly, the suggestion to monitor network traffic is just in case a computer on your network is sending the snails because of a virus.
