Nortel 4548 gt switch bricked

My Nortel switch no longer works after attempting to update the firmware to 5.4. Does anyone know of a way that I can get the switch working again? It is one of our test switches and I don't need to keep any of the configuration but I don't want to lose a switch due to failed firmware update.

hi!
I don't have personal exp with 4500 series switches, but at least on 2500/3500/5500/8600 series you can interrupt boot process to load switch to boot menu, from which you can load new firmware, delete existing configuration, etc... try it. you'll need nortel serial cable and putty with serial port support (version 0.60)

If you have a second image on the flash you can boot from that. If you don't put one on the rest of your switches before you get to the point that you need it.

the main reason that the firmware upgrade failed is that I didn't upgrade the diagnotic software first. 4500 switches can be interrupted during post and new diag and image software downloaded from a directily connected tftp server.
