How to test / troubleshoot WMI

Hi,

My monitoring program (Whats Up Gold) uses WMI to get information about disk space and other settings.  I am getting errors where WUG is reporting disk space is below the alerting threshold -- and immediately after I receive another alert that the disk space is OK again.  I know that the disk space is not changing that drastically in just a minute or two.

I was told that the problem is probably related to WMI malfunctioning, however, I have no idea how to test or evaluate if it's functioning properly or how to remediate if it's not.  I do know that it's a Windows component.

Looking for some advice on what to do to troubleshoot WMI.

Thank you,

S.....

It is possible that since it is a windows component it can be fixed by running sfc /scannow from the command prompt

The question I have, for starters, is how do I know if it's malfunctioning?

I personally have not used this utility but i think it could help you determine your problem.
