Not able to delete messages consistently in Outlook

Hello Experts,

I have a user that is encountering a strange issue in Outlook.  Sometimes when she tries to delete an email message or a calendar appointment, she receives the following message:
 “Some items cannot be deleted.  They were either moved or already deleted, or access was denied.”

When I click on the more help button of the message window, I’m informed that 4000 or more messages cannot be deleted at once.  I should select fewer messages for deletion and try again.

The problem is I’m not trying to delete 4000 messages, I’m only deleting one (and its not always the same one).

The user was encountering this problem while using Outlook 2003.  We upgraded her to Office 2007 and she is still having the same problem.

We are running Exchange 2007.

Any help would be appreciated.

I wonder whether it is a authentication issues or mailbox issues.


in exchange 2007, give full access to another users (example user A) (must not be part of domain admin group), and let user A to delete it.

Try to delete using webmail and see whether it replicate the problem


If not, the next thing is to Export all the email to pst, delete the mailbox, purge the mailbox, then reimport the email (or you can delete the email before you put it back)
