Sending SMS message to mobile phones from PC and or Outlook

I need recommendations for sending SMS messages to mobile phones. we have the need to do this from either a PC and Outlook contact list.

we do have a membership database also that we can advertise from.

if anyone has any reccomendations on best methods or products. it would be much appreciated.

Hi, Ancients.

It depends a lot on who the recipients are.  For example, you can send an SMS to Verizon users by sending an email to PHONENUMBER@VTEXT.COM

they must have some system in place. we have users that are on our AD network and some that are not. But they are on our contacts distrubution list.

I'm not clear on what that has to do with sending an SMS.  It doesn't matter if they are in your AD or not.  If you have their mobile number and know what carrier they have, then you can SMS them from Outlook by sending an email like the example I gave for Verizon.  If you don't know their carrier or don't want to go the free route, then you can purchase SMS service from lots of different providers.  How you send from Outlook will then depend on the specific service.
BlueDevil, Sorry I thought if you sent email to Verizon it goes to a distribution list that sms's from some app on their system.

I just defined the user configuration that we will be required to sms to give a better understanding of how it is to be used. its not going to an organisation. but many individuals. Im not familiar with outlook having the capability to sms without some plugin or 3rd party app. its something I have never looked into before. free is always great. but would not have imagined a service like this be free.

Sabk, thanks for the link. have you tried this service before?
