Manually updating ePO 4.5 Server

Our ePO 4.5 Patch 3 server has not automatically had a successful Scheduled Pull for over a week now and I'm looking at two issues. One is why its failing, and the second is I'm looking at manually checking-in the latest DAT file to ensure we are up to date whilst I sort the original problem. I can't however find the correct .ZIP file to check-in. The avvdat-6176.zip file I've downloaded won't check in as it complains of a missing pkgcatalog.z which is fair enough as it doesn't include it. Anyone point me in the direction of the correct zipped .DAT file to use. Once I've sorted that I'll start analysing why the scheduled pull isn't working. Thanks.

Try these steps below, but normally I find the issue when ePO won't download a package is normally down to a content filter, or proxy server change on the network

Download the .DAT package from McAfee:

1.Using Internet Explorer, go to: http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security_updates/dat.asp?region=us&segment=smb
2.Download the current .DAT packages by clicking on DAT Package For Use with McAfee AutoUpdate Architect & ePO 3.0.
3.Click Save and browse to a desired location on the ePO to save the package.
4.Click Save again.
5.Extract the contents of the package from the .zip file to the same location as specified in Step 3.
NOTE: The downloaded package contains all the necessary files to check the latest available Anti-Virus Engine and .DATs into the ePO Master Repository.

Check the .DAT package into the Master Repository (ePO 4.x):

1.Log on to the desired ePO server using a global administrator account.
2.Click Software.
3.Click the Master Repository tab.
4.Click Check in Package.
5.Under Package Type, select the option Products or update (.zip) and click Browse.
6.In Choose the File to Upload dialog, browse to the .DAT file you downloaded earlier.
7.Click Finish to check in the package.


Let me know if you need anything else, but in the mean time please post the content of the Server Task log for the specific repository pull task so I can have a look at it

Hi Si,

Thanks for the quick reply. I saw the DAT Package For Use with McAfee AutoUpdate Architect & ePO 3.0 but assumed (wrongly it seems) that it didn't therefore relate to versions above 3.0. I'll try that now, and I'll send the EpoApSvr.log shortly. Thanks.

No worries, I'm sitting on the train currently....you could just let me know from drilling down in to the task that fails as it should dump something out when you've drilled down as far as you can in to the task

The zip file worked perfectly and the latest DATs are in circulation. Interestingly, I ran another Pull Now and that said it completed fine. I'm wondering if the previous DAT was corrupt in some way.
I'll keep an eye on it over the next few days. Thanks for your help.

I knew the procedure, just was thrown by McAfee's labelling of the DAT as being for ePO 3.0
