SwitchPort Flasher Software

Is there an application i can install on my computer that can cause the switchport it is connected to to begin flashing in a pattern so that I can idenify it?

Not sure, but there may be more than one way to solve that problem. I use the switch port mapper from this suite:

it is free after registration. It requires nice switches that support SNMP and the bridge mib. it also requires layer2 and layer3 info via SNMP, so you may need snmp access to the router that is connected to this switch.

you may be able to log into the CLI of the switch and make the port flash. Have you tried just unplugging the device while a second person watches the switch to see what light goes off?
