Mail DNS SPF question

we are a billing company and need to send large volumes of mail to various people from various companies.

We have recently started to use smtp.com to send our mail, but this is going very slow 3 emails per minute.

To improve delivery, here is your SPF information to add to your DNS settings:
SPF record: "v=spf1 include:_spf.smtp.com ?all"
If any questions or concerns arise, please do not hesitate to contact us.

will adding this record affect our current mail set up?

should not have any affect with your mail setup.

by adding above SPF to your DNS
it will tell other mail server that

"my domain allowed smtp.com to send e-mail out by server defined under _spf.smtp.com"

possible for e-mail may sent out faster, expecting that other mail server (which receive your e-mail)
will perform less check with proper SPF record defined.
