Using File Server Migration Toolkit

I have two different servers , one 2003 and one 2008 server , I would like to use the file server migration toolkit , to migrate the shares from the windows 2003 server to 2008 server . This is the first time I am using this tool, so i am just wondering how it works and anyone's experience with it.

I have no used it, but have used robocopy which works extremely well.
