Looking for documentation on Avocent ACS1 Console server

Hi Team,

I've recently purchased a second hand ACS1 Avocent Cyclades Ethernet to serial port console server (one serial port only).  I kept looking for documentation especially on the Avocent site but I couldn't find any.  I even posted a question on their public forum but didn't get a reply either. I understand that it might be an old product but then i suppose there should be some kind of manual or getting started guide somewhere.

My most urgent need right now is that when logging in via the ethernet port  the login sequence keeps asking for a radius server and I want to remove the radius authentication and just login local.

Eventually it times out and logs me in, but only after about a minute of trying to login via RADIUS.

Next, I couldn't even get the lone serial port working as the ts_menu option shows that it sees the serial port but when I select "1" to connect, it immediately says access denied or something to that effect.

thanks in advance for any help.

On their Support site there is a possibility to send them a request and ask for the documentation.

http://www.avocent.de/Resources/Manuals_and_Tech_Bulletins.aspx

There is a "Can't find what you are looking for?" section. I would try to use this.

If I understand the selection correctly then you can select the Avocent Cyclades ... entry in the left listbox and select the documentation without an extension of 5000 or 6000 to get the correct documentation for your product.

There is an "ACS Cyclydes Manual (current)" in the right list.

Hi Team,

Thanks for your advice.   I was able to go to the site and I did get their tech support to reply but the manuals I got were very different from the command line of the device....maybe the device is really too old.

I have a bit of linux experience and the box is running busybox.   Does anyone know how to start the httpd daemon on busybox?   I tried doing google search on it but none of the tricks they mentioned seem to work.

I still haven´t got the device working but would appreciate any help.
