Have you checked for view filters?

Click View > Arange By > Custom > Filter

Make sure the filters are off.

Let me know if this helps.

the other issue is that it keeps saying that the messages are downloading. It shouldn't take that long. I checked the filter and its not on. even reset the settings.

Look for the Inbox repair tool and try that, im not sure where you would find it in your system, but it should be called SCANOST.EXE

Let me know if that helps.

I'm also experiencing this on a number of computers.  Can't find a rhyme or reason why.  Exchange 2010 to Outlook 2011. I've also had a number of my users report that they have an issue like this in Entourage too.  Can't confirm that at this point.

It seems to be a issue with 2011. No issues with entourage but we have re moved it from some of the computers.

Should we keep this open and see what happens?

The issue with not being able to download all the emails is because you may have old emails that are larger then 10mb. If they are, exchange will not download the messages.

Remove all messages that are larger then 10mb and all messages should download fine. Once we removed older messages that were large, exchange and outlook 2011 were able to download all messages,

Please close this. The issue is that Outlook 2011 for mac will not allow messages that are more then 10mb to sync with exchange.

Is there any kind of "official" statement from Microsoft about this? I have a client with the same issue, and they won't accept the 10 MB limit. Something official might convince them.

you can read some of the discussion forms to see what they say, i have not heard anything. The best way to explain it is this: Outlook for mac uses http for its protocol, it does not use IMAP or MAPI. In outlook for PC, it uses the MAPI protocol and does not use HTTP. it seems like the http can only take a certain amount of data and the limit is 10mb. the mailbox cannot handle attachments larger then 10 either.

now we are having the same problem with outlook 2011 but I am seeing that my outlook 2011 has some emails that are 30mb so mine seems to be working fine with the 10mb limit but we do have others on campus that are using outlook and it is stuck in the downloading 1 of 6

Mail limits do not have anything to do with OPs issue.  You can try to right click the inbox and empty cache to rebuild, but the problem will likely persist.  I am running into the same problem.   Exhange 2007 - pushing mail into Outlook 2011 for Mac,  just sits and says something like "pdating inbox 1/10".  It will complete but nothing updated, filtering is not the cause.  MS does not have any relevant fixes yet.
