Does it say who the message is from, and do you know that person?
If not, then I would be suspicious.

It does not say who the message is from. When i go into Windows Live, it list "You have (x amount) unread messages.

Next line down it shows "Private messages (1)

When i click the link it displays this image:  screen shot of message

Presumably the "Private Message" is a Live Messenger communication rather than an emailed message. Unfortunately I am not terribly well acquainted with the Web format of Live Mail, Live Messenger, etc, as I tend to used the installed versions Windows Live Mail and Windows Messenger which obviously are separate applications with their own interfaces.

Strangely enough though, when I logged into my Windows Live profile and clicked some fairly standard options like "contacts", I received the same error pages.  It could just be that they are having technical problems at the moment.

I'm sorry that I am unable to make any solid suggestions about your problem.  I thought you were talking about the installed Windows Live Mail.

I would agree except that is has been going on for several months. I cannot even get an aswer from M$ on this. Like the problem doesn't exist?

So seriously, no body has ever seen this? Still shows Private Messages (1) with the resulting page error.

MS couldn't figure it out either even with my permission to logon. They had to delete the message behind  the scenes.
